Introducing the UA-101: A True Unipivot Tonearm
with Dynamic Azimuth Control

This project started in 2023 as a tonearm engineering puzzle to figure out how to dynamically calibrate stylus azimuth on the record groove level with correct and stable geometry while the record is playing.

The UA-101 tonearm brings a new engineering perspective to the world of high-fidelity vinyl playback. Rather than relying on piecemeal rules of thumb or decades of compromise, the UA-101 is the first tonearm engineered from a single, coherent theoretical framework that connects every critical factor − from stylus-groove interaction to mechanical dynamics and electrical behavior − into one complete acoustic system.

UA-101 Wireframe

The UA-101 tonearm features precision CNC machining, aerospace materials, and a classic Micro Seiki aesthetic to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of Micro Seiki's MA-505 universal dynamic tonearm debut in September 1976. Fully adjustable and supported by clear documentation and customer service, the tonearm is engineered to deliver both measurable accuracy and astonishing acoustic improvements. With dynamic Azimuth Stabilized Playback, vinyl enthusiasts can finally approach azimuth calibration not as a frustrating series of adjustments, but as an easy final step to release the full potential of their analog systems.

What makes the UA-101 very different . . .

For decades, tonearm design has been shaped by isolated practices:

  • Stylus contacts groove to decode sound

  • Arm mass and resonance charts guide cartridge choice

  • Geometry tweaks attempt to reduce tracking error

  • Vibration and bearing friction are dealt with ad-hoc

These pieces were never truly unified − until now. The Unified Theory behind the UA-101 synthesizes all key dimensions of tonearm behavior into a rigorous framework that actually predicts and optimizes performance, instead of guessing at it.

A Theory Applied: Comprehensive Design Intelligence

The UA-101’s architecture is grounded in a complete model of the tonearm system:

  • Stylus-Groove Mechanics: Real mechanics, not approximations

  • Arm Dynamics: Interactions of mass, stiffness, and resonances

  • Bearing Precision: ultra low friction, inverted unipivot and damping

  • Geometry & Kinematics: From stabilized unipivot design to tracking motion

  • Vibration & Structure: Minimized energy transfer and noise

  • Electrical Interaction: Cartridge-to-phono stage behavior

This isn’t an incremental improvement − it’s a patented, fundamental redesign.

Why This Matters to Audiophiles . . .

Gone are the days of guesswork alignments and incomplete calibrations. The UA-101 brings:

  • Predictable performance based on real engineering models

  • Cleaner tracking across every groove radius

  • More musical resolution with lower distortion and noise

This tonearm is for the audiophile who wants to hear the actual truth in sound − not just refinements.
